How To Style Houseplants In Your Home!

Having plants inside the home has become increasingly popular over the last few years, and are a must-have interior design feature. We thought we would give you some tips on how to style them in your own homes!

Reasons everyone should have at least one houseplant:

  • They help to clean the air by removing carbon, therefore helping to fight climate change.
  • Create calm spaces, reducing stress and helping us to relax.
  • Brighten up our spaces even in the dark winter months.

Group plants together.

Grouping plants together looks best when using odd numbers, in groups of 3 or 5. Experiment with plants of varying heights, it will transform your space.

Use containers with different textures.

There are so many different containers out there when grouping plants try to choose containers with varying materials, patterns, glazes and colours.

Fill empty spaces with plants.

If you have an empty corner in your home, instead of a piece of furniture, choose an oversized plant that fills the space. You won’t regret it!

Make your plants a focal point.

Spend time researching indoor plants that will work in your space, find yourself an unusual looking plant that will become a feature, instead of blending into the background.

Experiment with usual containers.

You don’t just have to use your standard plant pots, anything can become a vessel as long as it can hold soil and water. Think old teapots, crates, baskets and trunks, anything you can find.

Use your ceiling.

Hanging plants make an excellent feature in your space, make sure they are still getting enough light. We sell beautiful handmade macrame hangers that look great in any room.

Bring your colour scheme together.

Use your plants as you would vases, candles and cushions. They are a great way to bring your colour scheme together in a room.

Get yourself a plant stand.

There are so many plant stand varieties out there, which is another way to add a focal point to a room. They can be used to group plants, and many come in varying heights, materials and colours.

Terrariums.

A terrarium is a great way to create interest in a room. They need little maintenance and come in a range of sizes and shapes, and can be as simple or complex as you like.
