When to Sow Spring Onion Seeds:

Spring Onion seeds can be sown from March to September, depending on the climate and weather conditions in your area.

For best results, sow the seeds in early spring or late summer/early autumn, when the weather is cooler.

How to Grow Spring Onion from Seed:

  1. Start by preparing the soil. Spring Onions prefer well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter.

  1. Sow the seeds directly into the soil, spacing them 1 inch apart and covering them lightly with soil.

  1. Water the soil well after planting, and keep it moist but not waterlogged.

  1. Spring Onion seeds typically take around 10-14 days to germinate.

  1. Once the seedlings have emerged, thin them out so that they are spaced 4-6 inches apart.

  1. Continue to water the plants regularly, you can also choose to fertilise them with a balanced fertiliser every 4-6 weeks.

  1. Harvest the Spring Onions when they are around 8-10 inches tall, or when the stems are as thick as a pencil.

How to Care for Spring Onion Plants:

  • Keep the area around the plants free of weeds and debris.
  • Mulch the soil around the plants to help retain moisture and suppress weeds.
  • Harvest the Spring Onions when they are ready, and enjoy them in your favorite recipes.
